July has also been a quiet month for the regular Salisbury & Shaftesbury Car Club marshals, with only one rally attended. This being the Fat Albert Stages at Keevil Airfield organised by Tavern Motor Club. This single venue stage rally had attracted a full entry of 90 crews (including myself and Peter Self in Pete’s 205 1.9 GTI, (see report elsewhere in this months Full Chat). It was good to see some other new members attending and helping out at this very fast tarmac rally.

The members were asked to take charge of the 10 stages start line duties, and also to marshal the Stage Arrival Time Control. On the start line were John Jackson, Di Spoors, Abby Spoors, Josh Spoors and John Parram. Sally Gray and Gill Parram were doing their usual arrival control duties. It was good to see 2, S & S C C cadet marshals attending and helping out in a positive manner, these being Jacob Stimson and Will Self.

The Marshals were kept busy all day with the stages using a 30 second start system and having to turn the start around at lunch time.

Many club members also attended the CLIC SARGENT day at Henstridge Airfield. Club chairman Pete Loughlin had arranged for 4 Rally Cars to be present to give the children, parents and helpers a blast around the Henstridge rally track in all over 80 runs were completed. It was good to see new member Wayne Bale driving his 205 1.6 GTI around the track and Wayne’s Wife and daughters helping out with organizing the passengers. Pete Self was also driving his now "stage rally" pre-paired 205 1.9 GTI and myself and Paul Heal were both in our MG ZRs. John Parram, Sally Gray and Dick Appleton controlled the track section along with Robin Davis. The day ended in a rare "treat" for myself and Pete Self being flown around the by a very delightful lady pilot called Annabel in a very small single engine plane. Annabel turns out to be a professional pilot flying stunt Biplanes !!!

Two forth coming rallies we definitely need to help on are the "Bullnose and Exmoor Endurance Rally's" both the two organizing clubs namely Oxford and Tavern Motor Clubs both support our Great Bustard Rally in a big way, both clubs have asked us to run complete "selectif sections" (see the diary date section for more details).

The Road Rally Register will be holding its Tour of Wessex on the 22nd of August 2010 we have been asked to marshal the section at Henstridge Airfield. This, being a round of the HRCR National Championship. It is hoped to raise some funds for the Air Ambulance by supplying our members to marshal this section.

MSA 81 Radio’s, for those of you not familiar with this system, it is the MSA Radio system for Safety & Medical on Rallies and Races etc, the club now has a License to use these Radio's on this system under the call sign of "WESSEX 1", "WESSEX 2" etc (see me if you are interested)

"Fat Albert Stages" Organised by the Tavern Motor Club at Keevil Airfield near Trowbridge. We have been asked to control start and finish lines on this single venue event. (Contact Mike Gray or Steve Eccles on 0776 087989).

"The Wugging Stages" Organised by the Southern Car Club at Colerne Airfield near Bath. General marshals required for this single venue event.

"Tour of Wessex" Organised by The Road Rally Register. Test and Regularity marshals required. (Contact Mike Gray or Roger Hunt on 07831 266478).

We have been asked to control a complete "Selectif Test" on this multi venue endurance road rally. (Contact Mike Gray or Karen Kearns on 07930 319578).

"Rally Day" Castle Coombe Circuit, we have been asked to help out on the "Sparco Special Stage" section at this event (further details next month).

We have again been asked to run the Chargot Selectif Test on this multi venue endurance road rally based at Minehead.
